Welding gloves.
Welding gloves not only protect your hands, fingers and arms from the heat of the welding.
But they also protect you from the UV rays that welding gives off.
Welding gloves will save you in a few ways.
1. They will protect your hands from the UV rays that are given off from the
welding process. Yes UV rays. You get sunburnt when you are not covered up.
2. A good pair of welding gloves will protect you from the actual heat from
the welding process.
3. They will also protect your hands from cuts and scratches when handling
bits of steel that have burrs and sharp ends etc.
A good high quality pair of weld gloves will
be:
- Made from leather
- Cotton lined
- Made with a re-inforced palm, thumb and knuckles
- KEVLAR Stitiched
These gloves are used by industry welding professionaly every day. When you do
by welding gloves, try to get the thickess possible one's you can find.
The only time that you will not want thick welding gloves is when you might be Tig
welding.
Shop around for you welding gloves as the quality varies greatly. Some leather welding gloves
all the stitching and fingers fall apart.
Some gloves, when you hands get hot and sweaty, as you go to pull your hands out the lining
inside will actually pull out as your had comes out. Then you have the problem of getting the fingers back into the
proper holes otherwise you hand won't fit back in.
Some gloves won't even have a cotton lined inside to them.
