Medalist Welding Helmet
This is the Medalist welding helmet which was my first ever auto darkening welding helmet.
I picked it up from a major hardware chain in town, Mitre 10. First I will tell you what features it has
and then I want to tell you about the issue of the poorly designed head strap, which breaks and makes the helmet
unusable.

his medalist welding helmet has an adjustable or variable welding lens filter shade setting. This means
that you can increase or decrease how dark or light the lens is. This is adjusted using the control knob
which is on the side of the helmet. There are markings around the dial ranging from 9 to 13. This
then allows you to select a setting which you feel comfortable with for welding.

If you look inside the helmet you will see there are two small switches on the actual solar powered filter
lens. The switch on the left controls the sensitivity. This can either be on low or high.

The other adjustable switch to the right controls the delay time. Again it is only able to be on one of
two settings, slow or fast.
I think from memory I paid about $129 for this.
The particular model is a : ADF300S
Now the head strap seems to have a weak point on it where it bolts to the inside of the plastic mold above where
your ears would be. This same style of strap is also found on the tecmen
welding helmet which also suffers from the same poorly designed head strap.

My advice is to stay away from this particular brand of welding helmet that has this style of head
strap.
Now take a look at the flaming skull welding
helmet.
